Leaving home

So that was that. On Wednesday evening I left Sydney after one year and three days of living there. I think therefore it's understandable to call it 'leaving home' ;).

The last few days were a blur of good-byes, packing, selling stuff, buying stuff and incredibly little time to rest and realise that I wont be back for a long time. (I will be back though, mark my words). And after saying my final good byes from Sam, Ching, Babs and Jeff at the airport (thanks for being there, guys) I spent 15 hours on the plane to Dubai. Very nice flight, especcially the entertainment system with a selection of about 100 movies to choose from.

And now I'm sitting with my sister in an internet cafe in Sharjah (near Dubai). Very roomy town ;), you walk for miles to get anywhere...

Hope you're all well, more to come. B.

Last week in the city

It's the beginning of the end of my time here in Sydney.

Tuesday Anne and Marcey from the NZ trip arrived and we met up with Jeanette, Svetlana and Max in Bondi Hotel. Great to see them all again!

Wednesday we spent on Coogee beach, met Trevor and then got ready for the Opera :). Trev had to check by work so it was only the three of us and we were lucky to get some last-minute student tickets, type A reserve (best seats) for a third of the normal price! And the opera ('Falstaff') was simply great! Very traditional setting, great music, with an awesome lot of detail around the main plot, great music and singing.

And finally the girls wanted to take a hike on the harbour bridge so we walked to the middle and took some great photos of the opera and city skyline.

Very First Post

So here I am, finally creating a blog.
It was, admittledly, not 100% voluntary. Everywhere you go on the web you see people blogging and everytime I ask myself 'Why am I not doing this?' 'Oh, right, you hate spending time typing boring notes about your not so exciting life.' So far the argument was good enough.
But, after realizing that I will never keep up telling people what I'm up to these days by writing individual mails - and everybody hates mass mails! -, a blog seemed like not so bad an idea.

So here we are. First of all I would like to thank
http://www.sloganizer.net for coming up with this very creative blog title. Second, the most important site going hand in hand with this blog is my photo album at http://bengoesoz.myphotoalbum.com. The title only makes sense for another two weeks but I'll try to keep it up anyhow.

And finally, to prevent boring you all with technical babble, everyone interested in my thoughts on the way of the world of artificial intelligence and software engineering can cross to my co-blog at
http://wayofthought.blogspot.com.

So far so good. More to come.
